History of United Airlines

United Airlines (UA) was formed on April 6, 1926 as Boeing Air Transport. In the beginning it started its services as airmail carrier. However, in 1934, the airline as named as United Airlines with William A. Patterson as the president of the company.

Initially, the airline mainly started its flight services on U.S air mail routes, east-to-west along transcontinental route from New York City to San Francisco via Chicago and Salt Lake City, and also on north-to-south along the West Coast.

After numerous changes later on, United Airlines merged with Capital Airlines on June 1, 1961 and thus became the world's biggest commercial airline. In the year 1968, the company was again reorganized as UAL Corporation, thus making the United Airlines a fully.
